What does "blog" mean anyway? Pretty bored sitting at home basically waiting for my wife to get home, who is out with a friend, or time to leave for work--whatever comes first.
On the topic of work, I enjoy being a police officer for the City of Scottville for the most part. Some bad things about the job is the boredom and loneliness of working alone all the time. The city takes about 800-900 "complaints" a year. "Complaints" meaning situations where people call in and need police assistance in one way or another, or a crime is committed, an arrest is made, or just general information that an officer wants documented for one reason or another.
This is a pretty small number compared to some of the other departments around here. The City of Ludington as well as the Mason Co. Sheriff's Office both take almost 10x the number of complaints. This being based on the larger populations of these areas.
The only saving grace for Scottville is that US-10 runs right through it and decreases the speed gradually from 55 to 30mph. Although there are not many good spots for us cops to hide, but I have to make due with what I have. Another good spot is River Hill south of town. This is the large hill right before you get to Riverside Park going south on Main/Scottville Rd. It is a pretty good sized hill that is posted at 30mph....but it is not uncommon for people to come flying down the hill going 45-50mph.
People always try to say that they were coasting or not paying attention. That's a load of crap! There is a 30mph sign right at the top of the hill that you CANT miss. Not to mention that I, driving a Dodge Charger, do not get going that fast when just coasting...trust me, I have tried.
I think tonight I'm going to try and one of the county officers to help me out of some warrant pick-ups...putting people in jail always makes the time go faster and puts a smile on my face...
